Community Involvement

​On Thursday, December 8th, Palmetto Yacht Management chauffeured Mr. Claus and his friend, the Grinch, all over Clarendon and Sumter counties to collect toys for families in need. Owners Chris and Robbie Hanna provided their boat “KNOT for Hire” in place of Santa’s sleigh, which is undergoing maintenance at the North Pole until Christmas Eve. With the help of their team, including the COO and his friend, Palmetto Yacht pulled Santa and the Grinch down I-95 and US-521, assisted by Santa’s reindeer, of course. Their route had 14 different stops across Manning and Sumter; a complete list of locations can be found below. Palmetto Yacht made the whole experience fun for the community by spending time at each donation site and blaring Christmas music for everyone to hear. The premier marine transportation company has plans to act as a home base next year, enabling families to apply for donations directly at their location. According to their website, local business leaders play key roles. They allow coordinators to drop off collection boxes in their stores, provide warehouse space for storing toys, provide vehicles to collect toys from donation sites, sponsor toy-raising events, and help arrange media exposure for Toys for Tots in the local community. Palmetto Yacht played an integral part in the program this year. With the help of the community, they collected almost 600 toys in under two months.
